You Get the Price Before We Get the Tools Out
Most electricians bill time and materials. You get a number at the end, and it is whatever it turned out to be.
We do not work that way, and it is the thing customers mention most.
Menu pricing, in plain terms
When you walk into a store and order a cheeseburger, you know what a cheeseburger costs before you order it. You can come to us and order a new circuit, a switch leg, a receptacle. The price is in our straightforward pricing guide, the same guide for every customer, and the number you were shown is the number written on your invoice.
The price is guaranteed, including when we are the ones who got it wrong
If we quote you a number, the job costs that number. If we open a wall and find we need heavier wire than we planned for, that is our estimating mistake, not a change order. The price on the proposal stays the price.
The phone call where an electrician stands in your basement and tells you the number went up by a thousand dollars is a conversation we do not have.
Two honest exceptions, so you know exactly where the edges are:
- A second, separate fault down the line. We can only diagnose as far as current will travel. If we repair the problem and something a previous owner added further down the circuit is still causing the fault, chasing that is additional work. Even so, roughly 90 to 98 percent of the time we honor the original diagnostic price across the whole circuit, and a single device repair is usually included in the diagnostic.
- You add to the list. Customers often do once we are already there. That changes the invoice, and that one is entirely your call.
Must, should, could
Every proposal comes in three tiers, broken out so you can see them separately.
- Must: the immediate repair. If you want that light to work, this part of the circuit has to be fixed now. We define the musts, because judgment is what you are paying us for.
- Should: work that makes the must better or safer. Grounding old receptacles while the wall is already open, for instance.
- Could: work you have been thinking about anyway. The addition, the garage, the hot tub circuit. Priced now so you have a real number when you are ready.
You decide the shoulds and the coulds. We do not decide those for you, and we do not bury them inside one lump number where you cannot tell what you are agreeing to.
It also makes us easy to shop
A flat menu price is easy to compare. If you want a second opinion, hand our guide to another electrician and get an apples-to-apples number back. We would rather compete on that than on who wrote the vaguest estimate.

Pricing questions we hear most
What changes the price after you quote it?
Two things only: a second, separate fault we could not see until the first repair was made, and work you add to the list once we are there. Our own estimating mistakes never change it.
What if you find more work once you start?
We stop and show you, with a price, before doing anything beyond what you approved. Every proposal already separates what has to be done now from what could be done later, so you are never guessing which is which.
Do you offer financing?
Financing options are shown alongside each estimate when the technician reviews the proposal with you, so you can see the monthly number next to the total before you decide.
Can I compare your quote with another electrician's?
Please do. A flat menu price is easy to compare apples to apples. If you are only shopping for the lowest number, we are usually not going to be your electrician, and we would rather say that up front.
See the guide before we start.
One call gets you the price, the tiers, and a real number you can compare.
